Dashing Botanicals all started when my sister, Brandi, gave me a handful of Alocasia and Monstera plants as a gift. At the time I only had a Snake plant, a Alocasia Bambino from Target, and a Boston Fern. I never knew that the Plant Community was so large and welcoming.
After caring for these new plants I inherited from my sister, I began looking into collectible rare Alocasia’s. She helped me find a gorgeous Alocasia Frydek and from there, I couldn’t help but get more and more. I especially grew an interest in variegated plants. After painfully learning the process of how to take care of these plants, I learned how to grow them on my own. I was so excited when my first few corms sprouted. I saw how popular they were, and maybe I could make some spare money for bills. I started selling on the app Palmstreet, and it took off. Now, I decided I should really take advantage of this opportunity to get deeper into the community. I am so proud to share my babies with you all. I am a homebody, and love to indulge into my collection daily. The care and craft into growing Alocasia is a delicate process but in most cases I feel I’ve developed a near bullet proof plant room and environment.
The name Dashing actually comes from my 4 year old Labrador Retriever, Dashing Garnet. He is the inspiration of my life, and because of him, I stay motivated to keep going! Each and every day when I come home from work, I take Dashing for a walk, and then I dive into plants. He plays the role of CEO and Quality Control!
Other than plants, I am 32, I work a full time job as a Mechanical Service Advisor at a Collision Automotive Technology Center in MN. I’ve been with the company for 4 years! After you have been in an automotive accident, we calibrate your Driver Assistance Systems to ensure your vehicle safety features are working properly, post collision repairs. Its really interesting, and its a wonderful place to work! I’m also a Subaru enthusiast, I own 2 Subaru WRX’s. One for every day driving, and one for short summer cruises and meet ups. I’ve worked for two successful Subaru companies in the past: I’m a known part of the Subaru community! I love designer handbags, shoes, cool cars, plants, bats, and dogs! I also spend spare time listening to heavy/thrash metal and attend local concerts regularly. My favorite band is Lamb of God! Ozzy Osbourne is my absolute hero. Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Fit for a King, Parkway Drive, Whitechapel are all basically what I listen to. I enjoy spiritual/shadow work, and the dark feminine. I tend to isolate and hyper fixate on plants.. I’m not the fastest responder. Sometimes, I get overwhelmed with the thought of conversation. If you don’t get a response on messenger or IG, don’t take it personal! I do however check my emails consistently, out of habit, so when in doubt, shoot me an email!
Ensuring you are happy with something I grew myself is of utmost importance to me. I may not give handouts, full refunds when things aren't perfect, but I promise, I always do what’s best for all involved. Maybe one day I will grow large enough to help a bit more in that aspect, but remember, I'm just trying to get by! Thank you for sharing my love and passion for rare, collectible Alocasia.
